Serendipity
Tourmaline | Double earring design, combining spinel and diamond, carries the gentle light of longing.
Turn memories into shining happiness in everyday life.
Serendipity is my favorite word, but also the hardest to translate.
Serendipity is one of my favorite words — and also one of the hardest to translate.
It comes from "Serendip", the ancient name of Ceylon, and is related to the story of "The Three Princes of Ceylon".
It comes from “Serendip,” the old name for Sri Lanka, and relates to the story The Three Princes of Serendip .
The three princes in the story set out on a journey and went through trials.
In the tale, three princes set out on a journey and go through trials,
Finally, thanks to coincidences and luck along the way, he gained wisdom and strength.
And through unexpected coincidences and good fortune, they return home wiser and stronger.
For me, Serendipity was an unexpected and beautiful encounter.
To me, serendipity means a beautiful, unexpected encounter.
I named this pair of earrings Serendipity.
This pair of earrings, I named Serendipity ,
Because it is the last gift my grandma left me.
Because it came from the last gift my grandmother left me.
The main stone is tourmaline, which comes from a pair of wedding rings that my grandfather gave to my grandmother when she got married.
The center stone is tourmaline from her wedding ring, a gift from my grandfather.
From the pain of loss to being able to start a new life,
From the pain of losing her, to slowly learning how to live again,
It seemed like I had found unexpected happiness in this gem.
I feel like I found a quiet kind of happiness hidden in this stone she left behind.
In jewelry design, I like the concept of "one item with multiple uses" the most.
What I love most in jewelry design is versatility.
The upper and lower parts of this pair of earrings can be detached, so you can wear them in two ways.
This pair can be worn in two ways with or without the detachable bottom.
The upper part is purple spinel and diamonds.
The upper part features purple spinel, framed by diamonds.
Spinel symbolizes good luck, peace of mind and wisdom.
Spinel symbolizes good luck, calm, and clarity,
Diamond is known as the "King of Crystals" and represents pure and steadfast light.
While diamonds the “king of crystals” represent strength and pure light.
This part is suitable for daily wear and is a symbol of inner stability.
It's perfect for daily wear, a quiet reminder of inner balance.
The lower half is decorated with diamonds arranged in a teardrop shape, surrounding the main stone.
The lower part is a teardrop-shaped diamond halo surrounding the central stone.
Those were my tears, all the emotions I shed as I saw my grandma off.
Those are my tears for all the emotion I let go when saying goodbye.
I have been protected by my grandparents since I was a child, and this time it is my turn to respond to them with a hug full of light.
They protected me growing up, and this time, it was my turn to offer them a hug made of light.
The upper part can be worn alone; combined with the upper and lower parts, you will become a more complete self.
Wear just the top, or wear them both — together, they tell a fuller story.
Losing my grandmother was the most painful experience in my life.
Losing my grandmother was the hardest moment in my life.
But this work is the beginning of my attempt to transform the pain of loss into happiness.
But this piece is how I started turning pain into light.
I can no longer hold her, smell her warm and sweet scent,
I can't hold her anymore, or smell her soft, familiar scent,
But I will remember what she said to me:
But I will always remember what she told me:
"Living happier than anyone else,
You must live happier than anyone else.
Don't be anyone's expectation.
You don't have to be anyone's expectation.
Just be yourself."
Just be yourself — and that's enough.
I will remember what she told me in my life and in this work.
And I carry that with me in my life, and in this piece.
